Your support can make a difference in Nixon’s leukaemia recovery

On Tuesday December 3rd, Karl, Sarah, and their families received the heartbreaking news that their son, Nixon had been diagnosed with leukaemia. Overwhelmed by the life-altering diagnosis, they are now facing an incredibly challenging journey ahead.

Before being diagnosed Nixon would be found hard at work constructing at his lego table, chasing around his favourite cat Bella and helping Mum and Dad in the garden.

The family revisited the doctors on Monday 2nd of December after consistently being unwell. After conducting some urgent blood tests, the doctors discovered the unthinkable- Nixon was diagnosed with leukaemia (ALL). The decision was made to fly to Starship Hospital for immediate care.

Nixon is receiving treatment at Starship hospital in Auckland for the foreseeable future.

You can imagine that Karl and Sarah will face significant financial strain in the months ahead.

Karl is a builder working for an independent company in Palmerston North and Sarah works in the horticulture industry, with both being unsure when they can return to work. They are fortunate to have a place to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, but there are still many other expenses that will weigh heavily on them.

Karl and Sarah are grateful for the support from their friends and family in Canada, Auckland, Palmerston North and all the medical teams care. They are fully focused on supporting Nixon through his long journey to recovery, and your financial assistance means the world to them.
