Fundraising to attend postgraduate programmes at the Royal College of Music and/or the Guildhall and/or Hanns Eisler Conservatories

Waiheke Island, Auckland

As a classical violist from New Zealand, I have received offers from three world-leading music conservatories to continue my classical viola postgraduate studies in Europe.

The most expensive is the Royal College of Music, which has offered me an Artist Diploma from September 2024 - July 2025. Thanks to scholarships from RCM, the Kiwi Music Scholarship, and several generous patrons, I currently need only £11,000 to pay the £27,200 fees. Living costs in London are varied, but will be significantly reduced if I win an apartment with the Victoria League, for which my application is still being processed.

I have received a larger scholarship from the Guildhall Conservatory in London to complete a Masters of Music from 2024-2026. With course costs equivalent to RCM, I would need £9,000 to attend this September.

Finally, I am in the final round of auditions for a Masters of Music at the Hanns Eisler Conservatory in Berlin. This will be free should I be admitted in June, and any funds raised (should I be unable to afford RCM and Guildhall) would go towards living expenses in Berlin.

I am still awaiting the results of my applications to the Tait Memorial Trust and Creative New Zealand with a combined value of £11,000 (results announced in June), however, anything to assist with the current projected costs would be greatly appreciated.

I will also be doing a musical fundraising tour of NZ this July, and would love to see you all at some of the shows! More details on my socials.

Creative New Zealand Scholarship   18 June 2024

Hi all,

I'm very excited to announce that Creative New Zealand have awarded me the Jack McGill Music Scholarship to support my studies in London.

While this does not cover everything, it significantly increases the likelihood that London will work out this year.

Creative New Zealand noted in their email that they were impressed by the funds I have independently raised, and that it helped my application. That is entirely thanks to all of you!

Thank you all so much once again, and I'll be sure to provide more (hopefully similarly buoyant) updates as the months progress!

Best wishes,

Zephyr
