To help those disadvantaged children who were not as fortunate as me.
Nationwide
I want to show young people that you can achieve anything with the right mindset and motivation.
My aim is to swim 1000 laps in Eru Brown Gymnasium pool (33m long) in Waiouru Military Camp within 24 hour on Monday April 12.
I was lucky growing up and had support from friends and family, but not everyone has such an easy start.
All funds raised will be go to Variety, a children's charity which gives opportunity and financial support to disadvantaged children. This is everything from clothing, bedding and food, through to sporting equipment and school camps.
Our young people are the future and we have a moral obligation to help them become great people.
We will do this by showing them the way and leading by example.
I would love your support to make a difference for our tamariki.
To follow my training progress and for updates throughout the day I'm doing the swim jump on Facebook and follow the 1000 lengths in 24 hours page!
I have been very lucky in life and had great parents who supported me. I look at the conditions that some children are living in and I want to do a little to help. I also want to show them that you can do anything with the right mindset.
I DID IT!!! 13 April 2021
So it took me a total of 17 hours and 40 minutes. In that time I covered 1000 laps, which was a total of roughly 34km. I have some nasty chaffing and so pretty bad chlorine burns on my face, but overall not too bad. Massive thank you to Toni, who was there the whole day force feeding me even when I didn't feel hungry. Also, huge thank you to all those who came down to support ans cheer me on. Finally, an epic thank you to all the generous donations, I have more than doubled my goal, it's hugely appreciated!!!
