24 hours of cycling to honour a great man and to raise money for the amazing Arohanui Hospice.
Manawatu / Whanganui
Arohanui Hospice entered our lives during the short battle our Dad, Ivan had with cancer from October 2019 to February 2020. With the help of Hospice it was possible for us all to be around Ivan and nurse him in his final weeks at home. The support of Hospice staff meant he was always kept comfortable and in his familiar surroundings with lots of love all around.
To honour Ivan, his son Ashley is undertaking a 24 hour cycle around the Feilding Velodrome. 1 year and 1 day on from the passing of his dear Dad. This is going to be a test of physical endurance but also, and probably more importantly mental strength!
The aim is for Ash to cycle with an occasional refuel and pit stop, starting at 11am Friday 19th February until 11am Saturday 20th February.
Arohanui Hospice relies on community support to be able to maintain such an excellent standard of care. Whilst partially funded by the Ministry of Health, Arohanui Hospice needs to fundraise over $3 million this financial year, which works out to over $57,000 every week!

24forArohanui - Challenge Complete! 21 March 2021
We made it team! All the way to the end of the 24 hours. And even better we raised a whopping $14,429.70 for Arohanui Hospice. Thank you so very much to each and everyone of you who donated and supported us on this crazy ride. Ash dug deep to finish the 24 hours strong and all our supporters went over and above to keep him going.
