Good Neighbour is an organisation playing a key role in transforming our community in the Bay of Plenty. Good Neighbour, powered by 300+ volunteers, provides the community with food rescue (rescuing 580 tonnes of food from landfill each year then delivering to homes in need); providing practical assistance such as property maintenance to those who find themselves in crisis without a support network; rescuing logs from the port and processing into firewood for homes in need (500m3 per year); a kitchen producing community meals for those in need (26,000 meals last year); social support addressing the underlying needs enabling whanau to discover resilience, well being and purpose; youth life skills programs; supporting people's journey into employment; community gardens; and gathering fruit from our collective backyards (36,000kg last year) and providing it to those who are without
