I am hiking 42km through the hills on the 26th March from Culverden to Cheviot over the Kaiwara range to raise awareness for Endometriosis

Canterbury

I know it’s a difficult time for many people at the moment,we are all struggling in some way or another, there is many people worse off or better off than me however I want to raise awareness on endometriosis as it’s something that I can strongly relate too. I was 15 when I was hit with pain like I had never experienced before,my period came and I blacked out.I remember this day clearly the day it all started for me having no bodily control crippling pain on the floor not knowing what the heck was going on,from then on every month was the same. I don’t know what it’s like to have a painless period this is normal for me severe contractions, hot sweats, pain I wouldn’t wish on my worse enemy. After years of hospital visits and misdiagnosis like suspected appendicitis,I had my first surgery at the age of 23 which confirmed endometriosis. Unfortunately the surgery’s didn’t help the pain which is still debilitating today having to plan my life around it not knowing when I’ll have a episode and for how long I’ll be bed ridden. Making sure I’m not far from a bed around this time of the month which Is frustrating when there is always something to be done for work or on the farm with the animals, in the garden or kitchen there is no time to be bed ridden. Endometriosis is a daily struggle many women struggle through daily. It’s true what they say never judge a book by it’s cover. I really appreciate you taking the time to support the women living with this debilitating condition!

Thank you!!!  12 April 2022

42km done & dusted! Started at 8am finished at 4pm walking all day hiking through the hills. It sure was one of the hardest things I’ve done but the thing about it is it was overwith that day, endometriosis goes for days, weeks at a time and the pain is much more challenging then the pain I incurred in this marathon. Thanks to everyone who supported me for this your amazing & to Fran & Hamish for doing it with me! I will not forget it! Sending love your way!!
