Unfortunately, we left it a little too late, but the fire is still in our belly so we are still going to give it a crack, but do it locally

Auckland

There’s a group of us that decided to give the 2018 Oxfam 50km walk a crack.

We'll start off on the same day (Saturday, March 10) and time (TBA) that the official 2018 Oxfam 50km walk kicks off including raising funds for the Oxfam charity itself via Givealittle.

It would have been great to be part of the official 2018 Oxfam event. The hype, the people, the course.

Looking at it from “the glass is half full’ perspective, doing it locally in the hills of the Totara Park provides for many to be involved.

It means that we can open it up for those that want to give the 50km walk a crack

Want to bring a friend along? Absolutely. What about family members? Of course, they can come along as well.

Do the whole 50kms or do 10km. Bring friends, a loved one and/or the family pet. There’s a few of the team that will be bringing beloved dogs along for a wee walk (maybe not those hens)

Doing it locally does mean that there is easier access to amenities, with three of the team living less than 5kms from the event if required. Yes, there’s a café in the Botanical Gardens if you need an urgent fix.

The team are plotting out the course as a few of them have clocked up many kilometres in the hills of Totara Park already.

Preparation is the key and it won’t be an easy walk. The Oxfam event provides 18hrs to complete the 50km trail. Their course is a little rougher, but we have planned for the whole 18hrs. If we complete it before that, then we can consider it a bonus.

If you do want to come along. Then drop us a line and we will send you out the details.

A team of 4 (at Chorus) were looking to do the 2018 Oxfam walk (50kms), but we left it too late. However, we have decided to still do the 50km locally (Manurewa - Totara Park) and open it up to as many people that want to come along (friends & family) as well as still raising some money for Oxfam
