Running 6 hours (50km) for the New Zealand Marine Research Foundation
Auckland
As a marine science student with a passion for the ocean, I decided to challenge myself in a unique way to raise funds for a cause close to my heart. With the Sri Chinmoy 6 - 12 - 24 hour race coming up, this would be a great opportunity to do so.
Being a keen diver, I've been privileged to witness the beauty and wonder that lies beneath the waves overseas and around New Zealand. But I've also seen firsthand the devastating effects of pollution and climate change on our fragile underwater ecosystems. Growing up in South East Asia, I have witnessed the issues of coral bleaching and poor fishing practices.
The New Zealand Marine Foundation stands at the forefront of efforts to protect and conserve our oceans. Through research, education, and community outreach, they work tirelessly to address the myriad challenges facing our marine environment and advocate for sustainable practices that will ensure its long-term health and vitality.
By donating, we are supporting the New Zealand Marine Foundation, and we are investing in a future where our oceans are thriving, resilient, and able to support both human and marine life for generations to come. We can continue to fund vital research, advocate for sustainable practices, and inspire others to join the fight to protect our precious marine ecosystems.Together, we can make a difference and safeguard the blue heart of our planet.
