Thank you so much for your support for my half marathon challenge! Together we have raised $4000 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation to support their goal of zero deaths from breast cancer in Aotearoa. Wishing you all a very safe and joy-filled 2022.

12 done, 0 to go, and just like that #ahalfmarathonamonthforbreastcancer is finished! We did laps of Auckland Domain where I started 12 months ago, in a bit of drizzle which was a relief after weeks of heat. I had a little cry at the end; it’s been a tough year, a lot of running, and I miss mum so much. But I have had so much support from you all, and thank you to the glorious crew that cheered from the grandstand today, and to @paulierawson who has run all these with me.

I know that Mum has been alongside me too, and thank you so much to everyone who has donated so generously xxxx

  • Half marathon eleven - November

Eleven down, ONLY ONE to go! It’s the day before I turn 39 (😱) and the 102nd day of lockdown, so what better way to celebrate than another half marathon! I’ve been struggling with heat and dehydration so the Third Mt Albert Lockdown Half Marathon was loops near our house with regular drink stops. I felt the best I have in ages and thank you to race officials Nicole and Jeremy for cheering at the 15km mark which gave me a boost for that last lap!

  • November Half Marathon - Māngere to Ihumātao (and back)

      15 November 2021

Ten down, two to go!! It may have been raining again for my latest lockdown half marathon, but the trail route from Māngere Bridge to the fields of Ihumātao was no less beautiful. It was such a pleasure to run on the coast, and through Ambury Farm watched by suspicious sheep. I felt great until 18km when I hit the wall and almost crawled to the finish; it’s also the first time I’ve been dive bombed by a magpie who slammed into the back of my head and meant an unprecedented terrified sprint at 16km 😳 😂🏃‍♀️🦅 Two to go!!

  • October Lockdown Half Marathon - done!

      26 October 2021

Nine down, three to go!!! The Lockdown Devonport Half Marathon took place in pelting rain and increasingly fierce wind, around the mountains and coastal routes we used to run when we lived there. It felt so good to finish, to be three quarters through this challenge, and to have the wonderful support, friendship and socially distanced hot coffee of race officials Dave and Kay at the end. Let’s all keep going through this!! Both my November half marathons have been cancelled so the elite lockdown runs will continue but I’m hoping for some sunshine at least!

  • Featured in Lucky Break Magazine!

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and me and my half marathon challenge have been featured in Lucky Break Magazine! It was a pleasure to talk about my brave mum, why I love running, and why is so important to fund research into causes, treatment and recovery from breast cancer. I learnt from Mum’s journey that no cancer is the same, and that so much about cancer is still unknown, so thank you to everyone who has donated so far!

The half marathon challenge continues despite our Auckland lockdown! October will be another exclusive two person lockdown event in Auckland, and I wait to see what happens after that. Either way, the challenge will continue and I'm hopeful to be back at events soon :)
