Mental health is something I’ve grown passionate about through my own experiences and those of people around me. Eight years ago, I lost my cousin to suicide, and since then, I’ve seen how many people, including myself and my friends, have struggled with mental health at different points. We all deal with challenges differently, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.
For me, getting outside and moving is about more than just exercise. It’s a chance to clear my head and talk to people. It’s something that helps me, and I want to share it in case it helps someone else, or at least starts a conversation.
I’m not saying everyone should get up at 6 am and run a marathon. But I hope by doing this, it encourages others to take some time to figure out what works for them. It’s about finding tools to manage life’s challenges, whatever they may be.
We can’t always get rid of our demons, but we can keep them from controlling us.
I will be doing 1K per day so 1km on December 1st, 2K on the 2nd, 25km on the 25th. I'm hoping to encourage people to do 1K each day as opposed to the 1K per day.

Amazed at the generosity and support from everyone! Increased the goal to 3K. Hoping more people will come down for a walk, bike, jog or run - 6am at the Devonport Domain.
