Created in 1975 and held every four years, the 1,000 Miler will take place at Auckland Grammar continuously from Friday 12 - Tuesday 16 April as part of the School’s 150 year celebrations and giving back programme, involving present students, Old Boys, past/present staff members and high profile community and sporting personalities.
The runners will run a 1km circuit around the grounds of the School and the aim is to run 1000 miles, in relay within 100 hours (approximately 4.5 days). All funds raise from the event will go to The Key of Life charitable trust, run by Mike King, the 2019 New Zealander of the Year.
The 1000 Miler is run in 3 shifts, 8am-4pm is run by junior students, 4pm-12am is run by intermediate students, and 12am to 8am by the seniors. I will be running in the 4-12 session.
We will be running 1km at a time for the 8 hour period at a sub 4 min/km pace.
