Annie's Awesome Adventures - AAA - Nepal
I have some great news! I have been accepted as a volunteer with Global Volunteer Network (GVN) and will shortly be travelling to Nepal.

As one of a small group of volunteers selected for the next GVN tour to Nepal, I am very much looking forward to working and interacting with the children at one of two schools in the Thamel area. These children have had a tough time due mainly to the unstable political situation in the country over many years. They are being supported in their education by volunteer organisations such as GVN and also VSN. We will be living with host families in a local village and will experience Nepalese culture, meals, and family life first hand. Our work will include working at the Shining Stars Children's Home. We will be teaching new skills at the schools and will be providing some fun for the children at SSCH. We have been requested to take some much needed resources with us. Your help is needed please with donations to support the cost of the volunteer programme fee and also the voluntary children's donation. I am endeavouring to raise NZ$3,000 to cover these expenses.

My role on the Young @ Heart Tour is to provide new learning opportunities and to teach new skills to the children, at one of two schools (we get to choose our preferred school). I, and other members of the volunteer group have been tasked with providing creative learning. For example, this may be science or art projects, or teaching new songs, games, music etc. As a group member, I will be working with other volunteers some of the time, particularly with art projects. The cross-cultural learning will flow in both directions - for the volunteers and for the children. Some of the children are disabled and they will no doubt require special assistance with joining in and learning new tasks.
