Want to make a lasting difference to those in need but not sure how? Donate today to strengthen the efforts of Mike King with the Key to Life Trust. Every dollar raised enables Mike to continue his life-changing work with youth and communities across NZ.
The current “harden up, stay staunch and let’s not talk about it” attitude towards anyone with a mental illness or who is having thoughts of suicide is a major problem.
Three families lose a loved one to suicide every two days in our country, but the Key to Life Trust believes that with positive attitudinal societal change, there is hope to change this.
The Key to Life Trust is building a youth ambassador network to empower and equip young people to support their peers. The Trust is passionate about it becoming the norm for our nation’s young people to check in on their mates and to remind them it’s okay to ask for help when things get difficult.
The Appliance Shed has a long-standing relationship with Mike King*. The company has kick-started fundraising with a $5,000.00 donation. The Appliance Shed team believe it’s important for all of us to feel valued and know that someone has your back when times are tough.
But they need more help. Your donation will go towards the development of the Key to Life Trust's programme that empowers communities through trust and education, encouraging community members to become an integral part of the solution to reverse the incidence of suicide and depression.
More about the Key to Life Trust:
The Key to Life Trust visits dozens of schools and communities throughout the country to engage with New Zealanders about the importance of mental health. Throughout March 2018, Mike King and the team visited around 45 schools and community halls, speaking to more than 20,000 students and adults about mental health as part of the ‘I am hope’ tour. Mike’s message reminds us that everyone of us can “be the hope someone needs” when times are tough.
