Fundraising for the construction of a much needed spring-well for families to have access to clean water in Uganda.
Ilam, Christchurch
Last year, student ambassador Ashton Cody decided he would like to raise the funds required for the construction of a much needed spring well, to provide families access to clean water, in one of the local villages where Fountain of Peace is working in Uganda.
On 3rd December, Ashton and his friend Billy (later joined by another friend, Niall) started their fundraising by doing a Fountain of Peace NZ – Walk with a Purpose. Leaving Ashton’s home at 6 am they walked a 10 km route to their school, arriving two hours later in time to start the school day. This distance represents the distance some children in Uganda walk to collect water for their families and also the distance many children walk to and from school.
Continuing with their fundraising efforts, Ashton and Niall are organising a movie event later in the month. For those who don’t live in Christchurch, or who are unable to attend, if you would still like to donate towards the boys goal, then please do so here.
The heart of Ashton and his friends is that we can come together for something much bigger than ourselves, to create lasting change in the world. They would be so grateful for your support. Every dollar raised will get them one step closer to reaching their goal of bringing fresh water and fresh hope to families in need.

Site for Ashton's spring-well to be constructed 13 March 2025
We have received photos from our Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation team in Uganda, of the site that has been chosen for Ashton's spring well to be constructed. The photo shows where around 50 families currently collect their water for drinking, cooking and cleaning. The cost to build a spring well at this site is estimated at $5,015.
