Participating in BOXING ALLEY'S FIT TO FIGHT CHALLENGE (October 2022)
Auckland CBD, Auckland
"Over the last three years, I’ve been working on the new Auckland City Mission building, ‘HomeGround’ on Hobson Street. In that time, I’ve had first-hand experience seeing the work the Mission does; from its Christmas parcels, hot meals service, a postal address for hundreds, medical centre for thousands, and drug & alcohol programmes.
Those years were spiritually rewarding, giving me the chance to have a role in a project that will impact people’s lives for the better, and working for an inspiring client who I wanted to help. However, there were tough times too.
Sports have been a huge part of my life for decades, but a severe knee injury meant the running and soccer days were behind me. Boxing gave me a different outlet, using my upper body to work out instead, avoiding doing myself even more of an injury.
Now with this opportunity, I have a chance to compete, getting out of my comfort zone in front of 300 people and having the chance to support a cause that I have learned nothing but respect for in the last 3 years.
After telling everyone I’m going to do this, there’s now the realisation that after years of just tapping the bags for fitness, the bags have never hit me back, and it’s getting tough!
So this is the bottom line:
Don’t let me get punched for nothing, please show some support with a donation to a worthwhile cause."
Join us and support the participants of Boxing Alley's 'Fit to Fight' challenge who are fundraising for their chosen charities.
