I’m a Mum on a mission to help create awareness for Autism and raise funds for by completing my first body building competition.
Auckland
In NZ it is estimated that 1 in every 88 children is on the autism spectrum - that's approximately 50,000 Kiwis, and the number is growing daily. Last month three autism education programmes were stopped due to lack of funding leaving hundreds of families in limbo. I want to do my bit by creating awareness and funding to support the Children's Autism Foundation by competing in my first body building competition in August.
Why body building you may be thinking?
Nervousness and anxiety is a real difficulty for people with Autism and can be hard to manage, particularly as many people with ASD have trouble communicating verbally. In the past I have had my own struggles with anxiety and being overweight. I have been able to manage this greatly through diet and exercise, but I want to take this a step further and confront my own anxiety head on by doing something that takes me completely out of my comfort zone. The thought of being up on stage in a bikini performing in front of people is enough to make my knees shake, but I know with your support I can overcome my anxiety at the same time as doing something awesome for autism!
Please help by donating whatever you can and spread awareness on Social Media using the hashtag #awetism

My Nephew Charlie is on the autism spectrum and I am completely in awe of my sister & brother-in-law who juggle work and family life to support Charlie and his 2 older siblings. Parents of autistic children are awesome and I want to do my bit to help in any way I can.
