Join me in helping ensure Hamilton's homeless don't have to stay in the cold this winter.
Waikato
Each morning I get to wake up warm despite the cold and frosty weather outside, yet for so many this isn't their daily reality.
Homelessness is a complex, chronic issue that unfortunately is common within New Zealand. This isn't an issue that can be solved overnight however, providing a warm and safe place for homeless or transient people to stay goes a long way to help. This winter season the need is greater than ever before.
In recognition of this, on the morning of the 31st of July I will be jumping into the Ohinemuri River to raise money for the Hamilton Christian Nightshelter Trust. It is my hope that by swimming in the cold water I can help ensure that some of Hamilton's most vulnerable don't have to stay in the cold each night.
The Hamilton Christian Nightshelter Trust - Te Whare Korowai Tangaata o Kirikiriroa provides safe and supportive emergency shelter for those in need in Hamilton. Alongside this they work to raise awareness of homelessness within Aotearoa and practically support those who stay with them.
