Bella's Assistance Dog Anna

Bella is 15, funny, kind, quirky, always tries to have a smile on her face and loves to dance. She delightfully silly and loves a good snuggle. She always brings a smile to everyone she meets, is joy on wobbly legs!

She also has Sensory Processing Disorder, is non-verbal, has epilepsy, congenital heart and kidney problems, is mostly in a wheelchair or walker, and has an extremely rare chromosome disorder. So rare in fact, no-one else has it.

Because of this, our life is somewhat sheltered. We call it the bubble of awesome!

Sometimes its too hard to manage everyday things we take for granted.

A simple trip to the grocery store, or the petrol station, the library, beach or park, can be a monumental task for our girl.

Five years ago, we met our first Assistant Dog. we could not believe our fortune! A dog, specially trained in "Bella-isms"!

These dogs have spent years in training, like the guide dogs for the blind foundation.

They can calm her when life gets a bit scary, warn me so we can get somewhere safe, if a seizure is coming. Alert me if she tries to run away!

But most importantly, to be her friend! Life sure is hard when people cant understand you. Its a bit lonely. And every girl needs a friend :)

After 5 long years on the waiting list, we have found a perfect match for Bella. Her name is Anna, she is described as quirky, a little loopy and overly affectionate. Perfect match!!
