Help celebrate Ben's short but precious life with a gift to Partners Relief & Development so children in Myanmar have access to health care.

International

Benjamin Ellis Minchington was born 10.29am 30th July, 5lbs 4oz and went peacefully to be with Jesus about an hour later. Jamie, Paula, Abby and Lily would like you to join them in honouring Ben's legacy with gifts to Partners Relief & Development so that children in remote areas of Myanmar have better access to healthcare.

Partners runs medical training programs in Shan State and Karen State, Myanmar. Tailored specifically to the needs of communities within these areas, health workers are trained to provide both preventative health education and some curative support. In Shan State, these health workers can continue through an internship-type program to be trained as Basic and then Advanced medics. Together these programs are bringing health services to a number of communities in eastern Myanmar which have long struggled with limited or no access to healthcare due to conflict and oppression.

Up to 47% of children in Shan State have stunted growth. This is due to chronic nutritional deficiency which not only limits children height but also their brain growth which leading to problems with learning. Up to 24% of children are seriously underweight and up to 9% have moderate acute malnutrition.

Partners Relief & Development (http://www.partners.ngo) is a Christian organisation that wants to change this reality and advocates for the hundreds of thousands struggling in Burma / Myanmar. As well as bringing relief aid into desperate situations, they work together with communities to develop education, healthcare and development solutions to care for their children.

Please pray that the people of Burma / Myanmar will experience healing and wholeness, and see reconciled communities living together in peace.

Funds from this gift will designated towards healthcare training in Myanmar and will be deposited to the registered bank account of Circuit International (a charity based in Wellington, New Zealand) who will then forward them onto Partners Relief & Development.

From the Partners Team in Shan State  3 August 2017

Thank you so much for this great fundraising effort—these people must have such strength to be able to even think of such things in their time of grief. And what a legacy to remember and honour their little boy-to go on bringing life and health to many people including many babies.

A baby was born prematurely here about 4 weeks ago, and Lao Pwe looked after him so well, gentle and knowledgeable and patient. And also a child was admitted who was very sick and getting worse, but Shwe Yen was confidently making the right decisions. Both these young women are medics trained earlier in the programme and both have then had the starting place to do other training since.

The lives of these families, these young women, and all of Shan State have been strengthened and enriched by the training and we will remember and honour Jamie and Paula and this little boy who will be a part of it all.

With love,

Dr Ken & Dr Alison McFarlane
