Ben's Epic Walk - Fundraising for NZ Brain Injuries Association
Wanaka, Otago
Local identity Ben Suncin of Wanaka set himself a challenge to walk for 12 hours continuously in 2022, to raise awareness and fundraise for Brain Injury a cause he is passionate about. His 2022 walk was a great success - completing 34 laps (34km) of Pembroke Park. This February he has set himself a new walking challenge.
From 6am - 6pm on Friday 21 Feb 2025, Ben will be walking again - he'd love you to join him, and support The Brain Injury Association (Otago) with your donations.
He will be walking around Pembroke Park again between 6am - 10am, then he setting off for a 7.7km walk around town, arriving back on Pembroke Park and completing the day with more park laps.
ABOUT BEN
Ben lives with limited vision, mobility issues and other long-term effects from brain injury he sustained a number of years ago. Balance and fatigue will be some of the things Ben will have to contend with.
Ben is an inspiration with his wide smile and zest for life. Aside from his health issues Ben
has volunteered for various community events in the Upper Clutha area as well as collecting for various appeals including The Brain Injury Association (Otago).
Ben is a great ambassador for brain injury, he leads by example of not letting a brain injury define who you are. Ben believes your injury doesn’t have to define you and that your possibilities are endless.
