Rescue Chopper...

A service you hope you never need.

A service that gives you comfort just knowing it is there.

A life saving/life changing service.

I am riding 235km (Qtwn-Inv but not direct ;)) to show my support and to raise money for this vital service. I am doing this for many reasons. Number 1 is that TWO out of three of our children have needed and received this service! We will be forever grateful, so this is one way we can give back. There are also other family members, friends, and people I know in the community who have all needed and benefitted greatly from a ride in the chopper! (And it isn't just the life-saving, speedy ride. It's the people and the state of the art/modern equipment on these choppers that make all the difference too)

I am also acutely aware when I'm out working with students (Outdoor teacher), just having fun doing my own outdoor adventures and my involvement with LandSAR how important, necessary and vital this service is!

Your donation goes directly to the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust to support the vital Otago Southland Rescue Helicopter Service, funding missions that save lives every week – from farming accidents and medical emergencies to lost trampers and back‑country rescues.

This year is exciting as we are biking through Wyndham and Edendale. If you're a local we would love to see your cheering faces to help give us that last push to the end! Friday 8th May 330ish :)

Thanks supporters :)

Westpac Chopper Bike Ride 2026

The Chopper Bike Ride is back for its 15th year – and we need your support to make it the biggest one yet.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
