BLAKE Expedition to the Sub-Antarctic Islands

Kia ora,

My name is Joshua De Guzman, and I am incredibly excited to have been one of the few students selected for the prestigious expedition in partnership with the New Zealand Navy and DOC. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will take me to the Sub-Antarctic Islands, one of the world’s most remote and pristine ecosystems, to conduct critical environmental research and investigations.

The expedition is set to take place from 28 February to 13 March 2025, where we will embark on the HMNZS (Her Majesty's New Zealand Ship) and journey to the Auckland and Campbell Islands. These islands are UNESCO World Heritage Sites known for their unique biodiversity and vital role in global conservation. While there, I’ll work alongside conservation experts to protect fragile ecosystems, document our findings, and learn how to better safeguard these incredible environments for the future.

However, I need your help to get there. BLAKE encourages candidates to fundraise $2,000, which is put towards the expedition and to raise its profile. I’m reaching out to my community for support to make this dream a reality.
