Raising money for Breakfast in Schools Whanganui

Manawatu / Whanganui

For the past 4 weeks I have training for Boxing Alley's Fit to Fit Challenge, where on the 1st October I shall be stepping into the ring. I am always up for a challenge, and the purpose of this fight was not only to challenge myself physically and mentally, but to also raise funds for the Breakfast in Schools programme that is run at Tawhero and Keith Street School Whanganui.

As the prices of groceries and basic necessities keep increasing, many of our youth go to school on an empty stomach. This ruins me as our youth are our future, and we all need food to function.

The Breakfast in Schools programme, which is lead by Penny de Jongh, holds a special place in my heart as I used to volunteer serving breakfast, and seeing the number of families using the programme brought me to a reality. Although there were hungry kids going to school, it warmed me the positive impact that the Breakfast in Schools programme made.
