Participating in Bayleys Plate up for a Purpose
Canterbury
Step up to the plate and hit us with your elevator pitch. What does Christchurch Casino do?
Christchurch Casino is New Zealand’s oldest Casino and has been entertaining Cantabrians and visitors to the region for over 27 years. During that time, we’ve been a constant provider of support to the local community where our employees live and play and where many of our guests are from. With a strong host responsibility focus and a diligent team of employees we’re proud to provide a safe environment for people to enjoy themselves.
Why have you decided to do Bayleys Plate up for a Purpose this year?
As this is our third year of being involved in Bayleys Plate Up for a Purpose and with the Christchurch Casino being a long term supporter of the Christchurch City Mission, I’ve a good understanding of the work the City Mission does and its important benefit to the community. Also, having been a member of the winning team for the last two years, it was an easy choice to bring the team back again this year to defend our title.
Who’s your chef hero and why?
Has to be Head Chef at the Casino, Richard Hingston and his team. Tasting what they do, seeing how they do it and the pace they operate at is truly impressive. In addition, Richard has led us to two wins at Bayleys Plate Up for a Purpose, so he’s doing something right.
What’s your signature dish?
Having a signature dish would imply that I cook often. I don’t. But one thing I can do with certainty is a good steak on the BBQ. That alone makes it special.
Taking business leaders out of their boardrooms and into their community to raise crucial funds for the Mission’s Back to School programme.
