Raising funds for the Kidney Society while cycling off-road from Cape Reinga to Bluff
Auckland
On Feb 25th 2022 I will start off from Cape Reinga as part of the Tour Aotearoa http://www.touraotearoa.nz/p/group-ride.html with the aim of cycling 3000kms unsupported and arriving in Bluff around 20 days later. The ride is largely "off road" and self-supported. It's something I've been planning for a couple of years now and expect it to be a real test of body and equipment.
But while I'm fortunate enough to be relatively fit and healthy, I'd like to do something worthwhile for others in the community while I'm undertaking the ride. The Kidney Society is perhaps a less well-known but highly deserving charitable organisation that provides personal community support and information for people with kidney failure and their families. Please help me in supporting the great work they do by donating to this fundraiser. Once the event starts on February 25th you can follow my progress via short daily updates on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/doug.todd.988
Cape Reinga to Bluff - 21 days, 4 hours 22 March 2022
After an epic trip through the country I arrived in Bluff at 11:27am on Friday 18th March. It was an amazing journey through incredible parts of this beautiful country of ours and I met many wonderful people along the way. Over the 3,084 kilometres I rode uphill a total of 38,000 meters, burnt around 80,000 calories and lost 3kgs in weight. Very glad to be home and off the saddle for a while! Thanks to everyone for your incredible support of the Kidney Society - your donations are greatly appreciated.
