Participating in Westpac Chopper Bike Ride 2026
Southland
You never know when this lifesaving service will be needed, it could be you, your whānau, or someone close to you. The Westpac Chopper is there for our community 24/7 - but it relies on support from people like us.
The Chopper Bike Ride is back for its 15th year – and we need your support to make it the biggest one yet.
Hi Mark What an incredible day, for our fantastic appeal, raising funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopters. We were treated to a pretty chilly start — down to 1 degree through Garston and Athol — before a welcome warmer tailwind out of Gore in the afternoon heading for home. We even managed to just beat the rain into Invercargill. 254km from Queenstown, rolling out at 6am on Friday morning, arriving in Gore around 1pm for lunch and a special visit from the Rescue Helicopter, then on to Invercargill by 5.30pm. The finish down Esk Street was something else, with an absolutely rowdy welcome waiting for us - and we got it done! Huge credit to the organisers and the Police, who did an outstanding job keeping us safe while still letting us enjoy an unforgettable day on the bike. Most importantly, I want to say a very big thank you for your support. Every little bit truly helps our local Westpac Rescue Helicopter service. This year we raised over $125,000, which was well beyond the organisers’ expectations and an incredible result for such a vital cause. Thank you — we couldn’t have done it without you
