Biketober and Joyya events coincide in October, and I'm using this as an opportunity to set myself a cycling challenge to raise funds for Joyya...a Christian organisation that seeks to end extreme poverty and human trafficking and giving children and women a new start in life and safe places to be in.

I'm going to have a go at "Everesting" What is Wveresting?....Pick any hill, anywhere in the world and complete repeats of it in a single activity until you climb 8,848m. Some people Everest in one day....I'm going to do it in one month.

I'm aiming to ride my bike up Rapaki Track (332m elevation) 27 times during October.

Please would you sponsor me ONE ascent? If I can get 27 sponsors to donate $30 each, I'll raise $800 and my family can make up the difference to $1000...that's a small contribution after all I've done for them recently.

Thanks to all the generous people who have given to the JOYYA fundraiser and supported me on my challenge to "Everest" Rapaki track this month. My goal was to raise $1000, which has been achieved-thanks to you. The total funds raised in NZ for this project is over $27,000!

I completed 27 rides up Rapaki (or 2 other bigger hills) over the month and achieved the 8,848 vertical meters (plus some). I appreciated the encouragement of many of you through the WhatsApp group and am enjoying my improved fitness. Someone asked me if I am over Rapaki yet...no I have really enjoyed the different sights, sounds and smells at various times of the day and sharing the rides with others. I am grateful to be able to enjoy this special part of the world on a bicycle.
