I'm doing a 10.5 km Walk for Water for EWBNZ to raise awareness of water access difficulties in communities around the world!
International
Hi everyone! On September 2nd, I'll be doing a 10.5 km Walk for Water at the North Shore Marathon to support Engineering Without Borders NZ. I'll be carrying a whole lot of water (at least 10L) to raise awareness of the challenges many people around the world face just to access water (which may not even be clean or safe to drink!). At least 1.2 billion people live in areas facing water scarcity issues right now, and this is projected to rise to 1.8 billion by 2025 (UN).
Engineering Without Borders NZ is a charitable organisation which aims to support people through humanitarian engineering. They do some amazing work, such as helping to supply safe, clean water to developing communities in the South Pacific region, while providing educational and development opportunities for members and communities.
They also run the In-Schools programme here in Auckland, which runs classes to show high school students the importance of engineering to ensure that people have what they need to survive, especially food, water, and shelter, which we can take as granted here in New Zealand. I've gotten involved with these activities, and it is extremely rewarding to see some students beginning to consider engineering as a potential career path.
Please support me as I take on this challenge, every little bit will definitely help, even if it's just a few dollars! Thank you!
