Fundraising for Downtown Community Ministry Wellington Charitable Trust (DCM)
Wellington
Wellington Film Society is celebrating our 80th Anniversary with a weekend film festival for members on 5-7 June 2026. We've grown a lot in recent years and are in a good financial position so we're putting this event on at no extra cost for members.
In light of this, we're asking members to come together and donate money to DCM to support people in central Wellington who need it most. This would be a great birthday present to us - please support this campaign generously!
About DCM:
DCM (Downtown Community Ministry) works at the tough end of things. When people have no money, no food and no roof over their heads, they come to them.
Sitting in the heart of Wellington at 2 Lukes Lane on the site of Te Aro Pā, the most marginalised people in our city come to them because they genuinely feel welcome and because what they do works and makes a difference in their lives. They work with people who are experiencing homelessness in Wellington. In particular, those who are rough sleeping or without shelter.
They offer a non-judgemental space for people to come for a warm drink, food and to connect with others. Their space is a gateway to the wider support they offer, including services which help people into housing and provide support to sustain their tenancies.
But they can’t do this mahi alone. They rely on the support of people like you, who give money, time, skills, goods and services. That’s why their tagline is, “Together we can end homelessness”.
