Chicago Marathon for Otago Rescue Helicopter

Last month, my dad was transported by rescue helicopter from Oamaru to Dunedin while in a coma, following a serious case of the flu. He spent five days in ICU, and it was an incredibly scary time for our whole family made even harder by being based in London and being so far away.

Growing up in Oamaru and the wider Otago region, I’ve always understood how vital the rescue helicopter service is to our rural community. Experiencing firsthand the difference it can make has given me an even greater appreciation for the incredible people behind this service, and the role they play when families need them most.

I’ll be running the Chicago Marathon on 11 October, and I’d love to turn the challenge into an opportunity to give back. I’m raising funds for Otago Rescue Helicopters to support the service that was there for my dad when we needed it most.
