Dunedin, Otago

Hello New Zealand,

We are the Chocolate Queens and Kings, a group of former Cadbury staff from the Dunedin factory. For over five years, we have stood out every weekend—regardless of rain, hail, or wind—fundraising for the mental health and wellbeing of New Zealanders.

The culture inside our Cadbury factory was incredible; it was a community where coming to work felt like being with family, filled with laughter, love, and empathy. However, when our team transitioned into new roles, many struggled as they faced bullying, disrespect, gaslighting, and further redundancies. Our staff were vulnerable and simply needed support during that difficult time.

Determined not to let those negative experiences define us, we chose to take action. Over the past five years, we have fundraised over $116,793 for fellow New Zealanders.

We know what it is like to struggle alone, and tragically, we lost former colleagues to suicide. We believe no one deserves to go through what we experienced without support.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
