For 140 days I will be completing Te Araroa, 3000km stretching the length of New Zealand. I'm fundraising to support Taranaki Hospice.

Kia ora,

My name is Claire and for the next 140 days I will be walking (plus one bike + canoe) Te Araroa – a 3000km trail stretching the length of New Zealand. I have decided to fundraise for the awesome team at Te Rangimarie Hospice.

Te Rangimarie Hospice palliative care services are available for all in need in the Taranaki region. This service is always free of charge. Taranaki District Health Board fund fifty percent of the patient services which means fundraising and largely the generosity of others is required to cover the shortfall of over $2 million a year.

Following COVID-19 levels three and four, patient numbers have increased by 12%. As the team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this dramatic increase in patient numbers has added additional patients to their already full workload and put the Hospice Taranaki team under a lot of pressure.
