Waikato

Kia Ora,

We are 5 friends from the University of Waikato representing the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship and we are completing the fundraiser, Climb 4 Youth 2022, to raise funds for the Graeme Dingle Foundation.

The Graeme Dingle Foundation is a non-profit organisation, who inspire New Zealand children to reach their full potential through programmes that help build self-esteem, promote good values and teach valuable life, education and health skills.

The Graeme Dingle Foundation Waikato are running a fundraising event at the Hakarimata Summit Track in Ngaruawahia, with the goal of proving that what we have inside is greater than the obstacles we face. By setting and achieving these return trips, and a fundraising goal, we will be role-modelling the vision of the Graeme Dingle Foundation of empowering youth in the Waikato to overcome life's obstacles.

We will be walking up and down the Hakarimata Scenic Reserve over a 4 hour period. The Hakarimata Summit Loop is 3 km long consisting of 1,349 steps, sitting 374m above sea level. Our groups goal is to complete this walk 3 times each for a total of 15 times. We are also hoping to raise $500 for this amazing cause.

We are motivated to support this organisation to support less fortunate children and do our bit to provide with them with equal opportunity.

Any support is much appreciated

Ngā mihi.

Joe Smythe, Bayley Quin, Caitlin Pringle, Charlie Roil and Emma Findlay

What a day!

A total of 70 climbers came together on Saturday to complete between 1 and 8 laps of the Hakarimata Upper Lookout (via Kauri Loop) Track within 4 hours. Through this, our second ever Climb 4 Youth event achieved:

👏 A total of 284 return trips (852kms)

👏 Over $23,000 in fundraising so far (over $179,400 of returns for our community!!)

👏 Proof that we can overcome life’s obstacles

A big tino pai rawa atu to all the 2022 climbers, volunteers, donors and business supporters. All of this would not be made possible without your continued support.

We are also hugely grateful for the number of generous event-specific sponsors: Kennards Hire Te Rapa, Studio 386 Screenprint, Countdown Supermarkets Bridge Street, Mobicomm Limited, PrintRun, H3 Group NZ, Bivouac Outdoor Hamilton, and Stuff Waikato.

We are still trying to reach our fundraising goal, so please donate and ensure we can continue empowering our youth through our programmes!
