Help me raise funds for The Humane Society of NZ as I attempt to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro in early December
Auckland
After conquering Everest Base Camp and beyond a few years ago, I will be joining an expedition this December to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro. At almost 6000m, Kili is the highest point on the entire African continent and the world’s highest free-standing mountain.
In order to complete this momentous challenge, I need your help! Your generosity will go a long way towards providing quality care and forever homes for mistreated, abandoned dogs and cats that are rescued by The Humane Society of NZ. The society relies solely on its volunteers taking these rescued animals home, then carefully rehoming them after rehabilitation and treatment.
For those who don't know me, I've been a huge advocate for doing our bit for animal charities and have been actively volunteering for Mobility Dogs, SPCA and Blind Foundation Guide Dogs for many years. Back in 2011, I was fortunate to adopt my rescued golden retriever ICE through The Humane Society. (Check out the 'GALLERY' for pics of Ice). If not for the society's efforts, this wonder dog would not have come into our lives.
Climbing to altitudes with 50% less oxygen, -15°C temperatures and 50km/h winds, conditions will certainly be harsh. Plus there’s no guarantee I won’t get severe altitude sickness on summit day. Despite these hurdles, I’m determined to reach the top and fulfill my fundraising goal at the same time. As they say, what’s within you is always stronger than what’s in your way.
I chose to fundraise for The Humane Society of NZ again because I wanted to continue making a difference and give a little more back to this charity that depends on people like you and me for support. I'm extremely excited to get started and I hope if anything, I've inspired you to take part in a cause. I truly appreciate and am forever grateful for any donation you can provide, as it'll benefit a great charity.
Please join me in helping out this wonderful charity, as they do not receive any local government funding and have to rely on private donors. All proceeds will go to The Humane Society of NZ.
