  • 2 Everest challenges completed.

      31 March 2020
    Main image

    First 38 in 21 days. Stats - Elevation 8816m, Ave accent 16min36sec, Ave decent 9min36sec, Distance 96.76km.

Second 38 completed in 21 days with a twist due to isolation and Mauao been closed.

I had reached the altitude of Everest Base Camp (23 climbs to 5336m) by 24th March 2020.

I had planned a 1 day attempt Base Camp (5350m) to Summit (8816m) on 28thMarch 2020. This would involve 15 summits between Sunrise to Sunset.

However Base Camp (Isolation) was now located in the hilly suburb of Otumoetai so Plan B was drafted.

Otumoetai / Carlton stairs approx 35 metres elevation x 100 = 3500 metres became that hill.

Everest Base Camp to Everest Summit 1 day challenge completed 28th March 2020 using Plan B.

One long day involving Otumoetai / Carlton stairs. 127 steps per climb x 100 between Sunrise & Sunset.

Total Climb time from Base Camp to Summit and back – 8 hours 31 minutes. Total distance 31.25km and 12700 steps.

To support the Rescue Helicopter incorporating the Everest Challenge has been a challenge plus the fitness, fun, meeting many people and the amazing panoramic views, sunrises and sunsets. (see my photo Gallery)

Thank you to all who have supported with encouragement and donations to this very valuable and worthy cause it is much appreciated.

Best wishes to everyone else who has participated this year.
