Cole Osborne - running 1000 miles for ' The Key To Life Trust ' A charity raising the awareness of mental health in New Zealand.
Auckland
I am one of a group of Auckland Grammar students taking on the 1000 miler event to help raise money for much needed counselling services for at risk youth and their families. The event, held every four years, takes place at Auckland Grammar from April 12-16 and will involve present students, teachers, Old Boys, past staff members and community and sporting personalities. The aim is for participants to run 1000 miles, in relay, in one hundred hours. We will be running a 1km circuit around the grounds of the school.
I've been training hard in the lead up to this event so that I'm mentally and physically able to take on this tough challenge.
All funds raised will go to the Key to Life Trust run by Mike King, who was recently named New Zealander of the year for his work in raising the awareness of mental health issues.
The thought of running 1000 miles in 100 hours is not for the faint-hearted but it’s a challenge that I’ve been working towards since the start of the term. With mental health touching almost everyone in New Zealand, I couldn’t think of a better cause for the Auckland Grammar Distance Squad to support. I now need you to support me.
