Cycling Athens to London for the mental health of Kiwi youth
Auckland
I’m Alex, a 25 year old Kiwi, and it’s been my life goal to see the world since before I can even remember. Now I’ve just started out on and documenting the first of hopefully many world-touring missions: riding a bicycle from Athens in Greece to London in the UK, I want to use my platform to raise money for a cause I believe in- Youth mental health. It’s something I’ve struggled with since before High School and well into my adult life, something I admittedly don’t talk about enough.
Gumboot Friday offers a free counselling service to Kiwis 25 and under and is a non-profit organisation funded by donations and government subsidy— which could be at risk of cuts under NZ’s current coalition government.
This is why Gumboot Friday is such an important cause for New Zealand and any donation, even as much as a morning coffee’s worth, can make a difference in the lives of young Kiwis going through tough times.
