Auckland
I am off to Kenya on June 18th to cycle from Nairobi to Tanzania ,off road and on the wild side, with all the proceeds from my fundraising going to SoTheyCan charity.
SotheyCan works with communities in Africa in need; empowering people to become self-sufficient and meet their own needs via education and community and economic development. By joining the philanthropic and business worlds to work towards sustainable poverty alleviation. Connecting people in the developed world with communities in need; so that we can both improve the way we live.
The work in Kenya and Tanzania is helping the poorest of communities break free from poverty. Currently they run a primary school for 1080 children, an orphanage for 120 children, a medical clinic servicing 20,000+, a business school providing training and seed capital to women, a teachers’ training college educating quality teachers and a school collaborative working with schools educating 6500+ students.
STC's Aberdare Ranges Primary school care for 1080 children from preschool to Year 8.
801 children have sponsors whom financially support them, write to them and receive letters back. These children know they are loved and supported from across the world which brings them great joy! In my family we also receive great joy in the sponsorship of 3 children at this school.
Money donated for this bike ride will go to these unsponsored children and it is your kindness of donating that makes every child matter. Thankyou.
On our cycle ride we will be well looked after by NZ based Escape Adventures and i am counting on them to give me the heads up to cycle faster when lions or cheetahs are coming my way! With thanks and gratitude for any support that you can give.
Education is something we may take for granted in New Zealand , Shouldn't every child have the access to education? SotheyCan charity is working hard building schools so that education becomes a reality and empowering people to become self sufficient to meet their own needs via education and community and economic development. I believe in all they are doing for these vulnerable communities and the connection they are creating between us.
