I am running in the AGS 1000 Miler; a relay of 1000 miles in 100 hours aiming to raise funds in support of The Key to Life Charitable Trust.

Auckland

The 1000 Miler is an event held every four years at Auckland Grammar. This year's event, occurring between April 12th to 16th, is particularly special as it takes place as part of the School's 150th anniversary celebrations and giving back program.

The event itself consists of a nonstop relay over 100 hours (over 4 days) with an aim for the total distance run to be 1000 miles (about 1600 kilometers). It will involve present students, Old Boys, past/present staff members and high profile community and sporting personalities. Junior students will run from 8AM-4PM, intermediate students will run from 4PM-12AM, senior students (which I'm a part of) will run from 12AM-8AM, and finally the non students will help run laps in place of other tired students.

All donations towards this event go to The Key To Life Trust, which is run by Mike King. This is a support group aiming to change the how New Zealanders think, act, and feel about mental health and well-being. They work alongside health professionals, service providers, those who are in need, and communities throughout New Zealand to encourage a positive attitudinal across the nation.

This was a great way for me to support the The Key To Life Charitable Trust’s important goal in raising awareness about mental health and mental wellbeing as well as their services that they provide for people who are at risk. I will be running alongside fellow students and teachers in a non stop relay over 4 days with my shift being between 12am to 8am.
