Dread Harvest

  • It was hair, now it's gone!

    Yesterday was the big day, and the dreads have been harvested - 106 of them to be exact!

    Yep that means the hair has gone! A few friends and family gathered in our yard with a few snacks and drinks, and took turns removing a dread or two at a time before clippers tidied up the rest.

    The new look feels really good and my daughter Lily has thankfully gotten used to it quickly too. Temperature control will need some work, and there's some weight and pressure adjustments required. But the feeling of hot water straight to the scalp in the shower was heavenly.

    Thanks everyone so so much for your generosity and support! Donations are open for a couple more weeks.

    Thanks all again for your generosity! Just one more update before the 27th in a few days. Thought I'd share how long my hair actually is, for anyone that's interested.

    Anyway hope you all have an excellent next couple of days, and many many thanks again.

    Wowowowowow this is very unexpected and super cool, thanks for your generosity everyone! I'll make sure to post some before and after pics next week when it happens.

    In the meantime, here's what my hair looked like last time I shaved it all off in 2015 with some friends as part of another shave fundraiser. That's my very good friend Ollie in the pic with me.

    It's also when the journey to dreads began (unbeknownst to me at the time)...
