The Dunedin Sleep Out is back in 2016 to keep on raising awareness and funds for the Dunedin Night Shelter and homelessness in our community
Otago
Last year the Dunedin Sleep Out campaign had 200 students and a handful of community leaders spend a winter's night in the Octagon to raise awareness and funds for the Dunedin Night Shelter.
Homelessness and poverty are still key issues that the Dunedin community cares about. We were stoked that our community campaign last year contributed $12K to help the Night Shelter buy their buildings last year. They no longer have to worry about being homeless. This year, the Dunedin Sleep Out rests on the idea that Futures Need Funds and our fundraising will be to support the positive transition of individuals out of homelessness. Driving licenses, counselling, CV checks, you name it.
We are the umbrella group driving the Dunedin Sleep Out 2016 and inviting everyone onboard. We are doing this simply because homelessness and poverty are issues we care strongly about and want to spotlight them for community attention.
