It’s been about 6 weeks post event, and we are so grateful for the support we have received pre and post race.

The day was great, with an amazing atmosphere and incredible crew.

I finished in under my goal time at 6 hours 17 min, and even with a pulled calf 14km into the run Ben finished in under 7 hours at 6 hours 58 min.

It was an amazing feeling to know how much money we raised, and want to thank everyone again for their donation!

The lead up to the event was definitely not straight forward with injuries and endo flares, but we might be back in a few years (after the body recovers…)

  • On the way to $2,000

      21 November 2022

3 weeks to go! A massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far, we have reached the $1,500 goal so now aiming for $2,000!

In the weekend Ben and I raced in the Barefoot Triathlon series - race 1. Unfortunately the swim was cancelled due to the water conditions, but the bike and swim was a good chance for us to practice and get some ‘event atmosphere’ 😌 One more big week of training and then into a 2 week taper, that the body will be thankful for!

  • Road to $1,500

With 7 weeks to go, Ben and I used the long weekend to do a trip to Napier/Taupo to check out the course and get a few days of training in.

Saturday’s bike in Napier started with a flat tyre, and then another flat tyre (the same inner tube that we replaced that morning), and cut the ride short with multiple stops to hand pump it up to get us home 🙃

We then headed to Taupo and put on our wetsuits for a (very icy) swim in the lake 🏊🏼‍♀️

Sunday was a 60km out and back to check out some of the bike course, with a spew and meltdown (thanks endo) at 50km, and then a uphill and headwind slog home.

After the bike we stretched our legs with a 6km run around the lake - an absolutely beautiful day with so many people out swimming, walking and cycling.

We were then back to Napier, and started the week with a swim at the new pool at the sports park, ready for another big week of training 💪🏼

  • October tri update - 2 months to go!

    Kia ora team,

With 2 months to go, we thought we are well overdue for an update on the training so far.

A month or so ago we did a self-run tri in Masterton, which was a great way to test our fitness and transition between disciplines. I can confirm that the first few kms running off the bike are definitely not easy 😂

For the last 2 weeks I have been recovering from a minor car crash - some whiplash and sprained adductor muscles. Today I went for my second run and also got on the road for a bike in the weekend though so things are looking promising 8 weeks out! (And I’m trying really hard to follow the physio guidance, those of you who know me will understand that this is quite the achievement)

Thank you so so much for your support, Ben, I and Endometriosis NZ are extremely grateful for the donations and messages ❤️

    Ella x
