Ellie's running like it matters this September, raising funds for the work that Engineers Without Borders does with communities in need.
International
Hey everyone! This September I'll be completing the 10.5km "Walk for Water" with Engineers Without Borders at the North Shore Marathon. This means I'll be walking a nice long way with a whole lot of water, to raise awareness of water availability issues in communities around the world. Globally, water scarcity already affects about 1 in 3 people (according to the World Health Organisation), and this is only set to rise with urban densification and an increasing global population.
This is an alarming statistic which can and must be fixed. Engineers Without Borders is an organisation which is getting amongst and helping those in need, particularly with our closest neighbours - working a lot with communities in the South Pacific. You can help too, with any money donated through my campaign going to EWBNZ and their latest projects.
Basically, I'm walking a long way with some water so that someone, somewhere doesn't have to.
EWBNZ is a registered charity which provides engineering assistance to communities in need throughout the Pacific Islands and New Zealand. They do that through working with partner organisations in the communities, and helping them to achieve their self-identified needs.
