Help me complete my half ironwoman race with a donation towards the Child Cancer Foundation.

Kia ora!
This year's birthday present to myself is to try and complete a half ironwoman. It's hilly, it's long, it will be hard and I've struggled to have the time to train enough, but I'm hoping I can do it! It starts with a 2k swim, then I get to spend a few hours on the bike doing hilly 90k, and finish it off with a trail 21.1k half marathon.
To cheer me on and motivate me, I have set up a donation page to help raise some money for the Child Cancer Foundation. An amazing organization that helped one of my best friends and her daughter through the harrowing journey of child cancer over the last year. The Child Cancer Foundation does some amazing mahi and brings joy when life sucks and is hard. So any pennies you can spare and send towards helping me complete the race and the Child Cancer Foundation continuing the mahi they do, will be hugely appreciated.
The event is Suffer Rotorua on the 21st December! I will share an update :)

Thanks so much for your support! 27 December 2024
Thanking you all so much for your support! We raised over 700, all thanks to you! My post:
I turned 40 in September, and today, I completed my 40th birthday present to myself, a half ironwoman. It was the most challenging event I have done so far. I wanted to push myself to do something new and uncomfortable. Biking was never the sport I would go for, but something I made myself do. I have walked away from this event having a special place in my heart for biking and open water swimming, I had the BEST time, and the endorphins went nuts.
The course, the people, and even the bad weather made this event an unforgettable day. And of course, my biggest fans were there with me, especially my love, who supported me in this very lengthy training regime.
Swim kicked off at 5.15am in the blue lake. It was foggy, calm, and beautiful. Then I biked the hills and sang to the Eras tour set list variation Mara made me. I had a blast, and the hills here held nothing on some of the Wellington ones 😅 The run was hard, but it's also my home and my big love, I ran a time I never thought I would after nearly 4 hours on a bike with 1300m elevation.
So, my new decade has started beautifully, teaching me to keep trying new things, and being thankful to my body that it endures this all with me.
Reaching my goal, and having my girls, husband, family and dear friends there at the end got the better of me, I was too teary for a smile, but that smile spans my whole body, SUCH a fantastic day.
Thanks so much my friend 💚
