Farmers and growers helping Aucklanders have a good Christmas
Come on farmers and growers - help out those in Auckland who have really done it hard this year, and will need more help to get them through Christmas.
This campaign has been set up by Federated Farmers of New Zealand to give farmers and growers the opportunity to help someone to feed their family, like farmers and growers do.
Feds Gisborne President Toby Williams was dismayed to learn how many more Auckland families were struggling as a result of COVID-19 fallout, including loss of jobs or cutbacks to hours.
“It only costs $135 to feed a family of four for 4 days, including Christmas dinner! We are asking fellow farmers to help families pay for good, fresh food for Christmas.
“The ongoing impact of three months of lockdowns has reduced the ability of too many families to provide the necessities of life, and especially to get through Christmas. We want to do something about it,” Toby says.
Your donation has directly contributed to over 500 families! 11 January 2022
We would like to thank you very much for your donation to our page supporting The Auckland City Mission. Your donation has directly contributed to over 500 families receiving support from the City Mission this Christmas. For many farmers, this pandemic and housing crisis has passed us by with little direct effect on our day-to-day lives.
The people that your donation has supported have not been so lucky. We fell short of our lofty goal which was a little disappointing but given the time frames we were working to raising close to $70,000 was truly incredible and shows that the Christmas spirit is well and truly alive in the farming community.
Thank you once again and we hope that you had a fantastic Christmas knowing that your kind donation has helped other families during the festive season.
