Participating in Help us create the biggest ever celebration of bikes in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland
Auckland
For me Biketober is about celebrating how great bikes are (for the environment, for mobility, for health, for joy, for our cities). It's also about tempting heaps more people to give cycling a go through fun and cool events. And, of course, it's about making cycling super visible, which will showcase the demand for cycling to councilors and local board members, shifting them towards bike friendly decisions.
When Cappuccino and I first moved to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, we moved into Blockhouse Bay. We weren't in that house all that long (maybe 6 months), but I am still a proud Westie at heart. Which is why I'm pushing for West Auckland to win the Big Bike Off Fundraising Challenge!
Donate now to help make cycling more visible and bring our decision makers along for the ride - and so that West Auckland wins the challenge and hosts the opening for Biketober 2025!
A huge thanks to you for your support 10 April 2025
Annnnnd that's a wrap! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, shared, and volunteered time towards this fundraiser. And special thank you to Sandfield, Lime, and Zoomin e-Bikes for providing match funding during the campaign.
While the fundraising page on Givealittle has now closed, you are most welcome to continue to make donations via our website here: https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/donate/
The Central & East Team is the winning area and will be the host for the Biketober opening event! If that's not your area, don't worry - there will be lots of other events across the region, and we'll make sure no area misses out.
We'll be sharing an update next week about how much we've raised in total - leaving time for the Bike Karaoke this Friday to bring in some final donations (check out Bike Karaoke here: https://www.bikeauckland.org.nz/event/sing-your-heart-out-big-bike-off-karaoke/ )
Thanks again,
The team at Bike Auckland
