Forest and Bird: Racing for Danu

This is a story of Danu, Vanessa, Bel and Marcela.

Almost a year ago Danu, one of our wonderful colleagues and friends, passed away. It was a surprise to us all, and left a big hole in our hearts. He was always there to offer us a hand, an insight, a laugh, …and assist us in finishing our plates. He was kind and caring, and incredibly gentle.

One Friday night soon after Danu's passing Vanessa, Bel and Marcela were somewhat gently provoked by another colleague into signing up for an adventure race in Te Anau in October. We decided to do the event to fundraise money to give to a charity in Danu's name.

We’re hoping to raise $5000 for a charity Danu would have been proud of: Forest and Bird New Zealand. We chose this charity because it is one Danu would have liked to support, because it is an incredible charity doing wonderful work through NZ, and because it has a good overlap with the event we're doing*.

We have entered the Spring Challenge adventure race held in October in Te Anau, and we’d like your support. Our training has been underway for months, and planning is almost complete. We’re all out there putting in the kms, and aiming to earn every dollar that is donated.

Given the current environment we appreciate that we’re aiming for a lot. Any assistance, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
