    Hi everyone,

Well the time is nearly here. One week to go until we head to Wellington for the great fundraising trip. Due to cyclone Gabrielle a new date of 29th April was selected.

A group of us went for a shakedown ride today to test a few new scoots. Some have just had engine rebuilds in preparation for the journey. Nothing blew up, so we look set to go!

See today's shakedown ride video here: https://www.relive.cc/view/vRO7J5DEeKv

Huge thanks to everyone for all your support 👍. Collectively, the charity ride has raised over $83,000 so far! Which is nearly $10k more than last year, and we still have a week to go.

Thanks for being a part of it, and pray or sunshine next Saturday!

    Cheers

    Paddy

  • ## EVENT UPDATE ## RIDING FOR HAWKES BAY ##

    ## NEW DATE 29th APRIL ##

    RIDING FOR HAWKES BAY

    Hi everyone

Firstly, our thoughts and prayers to those who have lost homes, livelihoods and loved ones in result of the Cyclone Gabrielle.

So many stories of heart-breaking damage and loss along with inspiring stories of heroic rescues and lives saved.

We have had quite a few messages asking whether the ride to Wellies was still going ahead. Initially we thought that running the event on the 4th of March would still be possible but after a few days it had become pretty obvious that we would have to postpone the ride.

We now have a new date locked in, Saturday the 29th of April and we hope you all can make it.

We will also reschedule the quiz night which will run a couple of weeks before the ride.

We are also thinking about pivoting the event a wee bit and making it all about raising funds for those affected so badly by Cyclone Gabrielle in Hawkes Bay so we will be splitting the funds 50/50 with Mike Kings "I Am Hope" (Hawkes Bay counselling) and local charity Jolly Good Chaps Charitable Trust with 100% of proceeds going to Hawkes Bay flood relief (Jolly Good Chaps Charitable Trust will distribute funding as they see fit).

Given the change on how funds will be distributed, we wanted to offer donors a refund, in case you want. You just need to get in touch with Givealittle (helpdesk@givealittle.co.nz) by March 20th and they will be able to help you with it.

We have set a target of $200,000 and we think with over 100 riders on board this year we should be able to crush it!

As some of you will be aware, our good friends and sponsor of our main prize Zeelandt Brewery in Eskdale was absolutely devastated in the floods and were lucky to make it out of their place alive (big love to Chris and family!). So we will have to rustle up some new prizes for the event.

We have also tee’d up some awesome prizes for those who raise the most money, so let's get out there and raise a truckload of dingaling for those in real need in our community!

Entries are still open so if you know anyone that is wanting to join us on the ride and fundraise for Hawkes Bay get them to check out the website scooterchallenge.co.nz

Be sure to follow our Facebook page for regular updates and event info and for any questions or queries you can give us a shout at info@scooterchallenge.co.nz

If you would like to sponsor the event or make a donation, please contact Paul Garland on 027 3295777

    Kia kaha and stay safe

  • New ride date.

      4 March 2023

    Hi everyone,

Unfortunately with the flooding from cyclone Gabrielle we had to postpone the scooter challenge (which was scheduled for today). The good news is we have a new date locked in, 29 April 2023.

In other awesome news, Mike King from "I am Hope" has been in Esk valley providing mental health support to locals. This is a service he has put in place for a minimum of 3 months. I am Hope is one of the main charities we are fundraising for, so it's fantastic to see it supporting our local people.

I'm really looking forward to getting the bike back out again and on the roads.

Until then, we will keep working on getting the community back up and running!

    Cheers

    Paddy

  • Let's get over $1,000!

I never expected to hit the initial target of $500 so early. With that in mind, getting to $1,000 raised is really close! Let's see if we can get there before March 4th.

  • Target achieved!

      11 February 2023

Wow, big thanks to everyone for the donations towards the ride! I didn't expect to hit the target so quickly. If you haven't donated already, it would be awesome to see if we can double it and punch through the $1k mark!

A huge thanks for your support, this is an awesome event for some awesome charities. There are are now over 100 riders registered to make the journey. The bike is running great after a few mid-testing mechanical hiccups and some final tuning. Looks like I'm all ready to go!

    Bring on March 4th 👍

    Cheers

    Paddy
