Fundraising for Brain Tumour Support NZ
Nationwide
May is the month of Brain Tumour Awareness in Aotearoa, & reckon this calls for a chance to set myself a challenge - by participating in something I love, all while raising some much needed funds for the group Brain Tumour Support NZ.
I’ve entered myself into the Auckland XTERRA Trail Run/Walk Series, & will be running long distance in some of the best trail runs across Tamaki Makaurau, starting next week on the 23rd of May out in the Shakespear Regional Park. It’s about time I got back into fighting fit condition! - & thought I’d start up a wee Givealittle page in which we can donate towards a noble cause.
Brain tumours are nasty bloody things that form from a mass of abnormal cells within your skull - they can be noncancerous, or cancerous; with brain cancer the leading cause of cancer deaths in people under 40. Treatment can be complex, often comes with side effects. All brain tumours are life-changing. There are over 130 different types of brain tumour, & the experience of living with a brain tumour can be very different for each person.
I’ve been lucky enough that the doctors caught it early, the surgery was a success, & surrounding me has been a supportive network of friends & whanau to check in with - I’ve been living day to day, low grade ever since.
#GoGreyinMay is a time for the young & young at heart to participate in fun, awareness-raising activities that raise much-needed funds for brain tumour sufferers in New Zealand.
Please free feel to seek out more information & support, & of course donate towards the cause! It’s been a tough year for all of us, so don’t hesitate to reach out to me for other ways to help out.
He Waka eke noa!
