Sepsis is a blood-poisoning illness that can be caused by the body's immune system trying to fight off an infection whether it's in your lungs, skin, kidneys, bloodstream or heart this creates a chain reaction throughout the body which can be life-threatening. Anyone is at risk of infection and in New Zealand, more the 1 in 100 people are at risk of sepsis every year. Despite the severity of this condition, Sepsis isn’t a very well-known illness in New Zealand only 1 in 3 people.
